About

The Hvězdičkuj project was launched at the beginning of 2022 as a tool to improve communication between passengers and public transport drivers in Ostrava. Its main idea is to allow passengers to rate the driving quality of a specific driver using a simple star-rating system. In 2025, the hvezdickuj.cz app was expanded to include vehicle condition ratings. This allows passengers to also evaluate the cleanliness and functionality of selected areas inside the vehicle.

How it works

Every public transport vehicle is equipped with a sticker that includes a contactless NFC chip linking to the hvezdickuj.cz web app. There, passengers can rate the specific ride of a driver or evaluate selected aspects of the vehicle on a scale from 1 to 5 stars. All ratings are collected anonymously, regularly analyzed and evaluated, and appropriate actions may be taken. Driver ratings are used not only for general insight but also as motivation for employees.

Charity aspect

Besides ratings, the app also offers an option to make a voluntary donation for charity. Passengers can not only rate their ride, but also donate, for example, 5, 10, or 20 CZK to support the “Turquoise Collection,” which helps fund charitable projects. The Ostrava Transport Company will then reward the rated driver with the same amount.
